Paternity leave is leave for new fathers; there is no central law for private employers in India, so it is a company policy, commonly 5 to 15 days.

Central government employees get 15 days. Private companies define their own, often with a window of a few months around the birth or adoption.

It is usually a separate leave type with a per-event credit.
