Can teaching and non-teaching staff have different rules?
Yes. Each group has its own pay components, leave types, calendar and attendance rules, and the same is true for contract faculty, hostel wardens and drivers. They all sit on one employee master, so the institution has one headcount and one payroll run rather than three sheets.
How does it handle vacations?
The academic calendar marks vacation periods per campus, and leave and attendance rules read it, so days in a vacation are not counted as absence and vacation-month pay follows the policy you set for each group. Working Saturdays and compensatory days can be added the same way.
We run several campuses. Can each have its own holidays?
Yes. Holiday calendars and rosters are set per branch, so a campus in another city can follow its own state holidays and local closures. Reporting rolls every campus up for the management, and an employee transferred between campuses carries the same record and leave balance.
Does professional tax apply to teachers?
Professional tax depends on the state where the person works, not on the profession. Where the state levies it, such as Maharashtra, Karnataka or Gujarat, it is deducted by slab; in Rajasthan, Delhi, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh there is none. Kuzhu applies the right slab from the work location.
